My name is maggie winnall. I am a contemporary textile artist and I make colourful abstract art using cloth, texture and line. My art is a combination of traditional quilting values with contemporary vision. I use recycled cloth. I employ sewing and quilting tools and techniques to help me process my ideas. I love the process of recreating cloth and colour into new configurations and love using my sewing machine.

I guess it is a matter of just trying things out and seeing what happens. So I am currently typing my script in the visual display box because I like to be able to see everything I have written.
The picture I posted is a detail shot of my entry to the Art Quilt category in the Festival of Quilts 2009. It is called no9 red shoes, has mixed fibres and made from a wide variety of re-cycled/up-cycled cloth.
I have still to learn how to present the image the right way up.I guess this is how it will be learn as you go!
