Problems and Solving

these little rectangles of cloth are starting their life as oyster wallets. they were cut out before I figured the best way to sew them, they have been waiting for some tlc. Now is the time. I have a method of making that can incorporate the rectangles quite well. Now this problem has been sortedContinue reading “Problems and Solving”

24 Oyster Card Wallets and Thank You

Today I tested nylon thread to sew my recycled plastic bag oyster card wallets. Once over the technical problems, needle breakage, uneven and wobbly stitches  I managed to finish the 24 colourful oyster wallets you see above. Also I’d like to thank all the visitors and art enthusiasts who came to see the Open StudioContinue reading “24 Oyster Card Wallets and Thank You”

Al fresco stitching

A fantastic benefit of handwork, it’s portable! As this beautiful summer continues, al fresco stitching in the park adds to the enjoyment.  Settled under the shade of the trees , hearing the sound of children playing, I stitch my ‘thank you’s’. Selecting colour to define each letter. Enjoying how the colour of the thread influences theContinue reading “Al fresco stitching”

Gallery Opening

For a long time I have been trying to fathom how to include lots of pictures, aka known as a gallery, into my blog posts – well now I know. Express Yourself: Decided

I may even change the font while I’m at it…sometimes when you have invested time and energy, it’s hard to admit the results aren’t working and make the changes…..but once you do…it releases stuckContinue reading “Express Yourself”

Making Uncovered Success!

Every thing about taking part in Making Uncovered was satisfying, right from the first meeting at Brixton East (where I immediately visualised myself in situ sewing and making) to being paid promptly for my workshop. This was my first time working with Makerhood and from the outset it was evidently a clearly thought out, seamless operation. TheContinue reading “Making Uncovered Success!”

Intuition: friend or foe?

Intuition is my guide. Intuition as the threshold for adventure, the place to go, the place to listen and hear your knowing voice, a small voice, not loud and brash and shouting, but a quiet insistent recurring voice, coming back time and again to hint at the direction to take, the choice to make,Continue reading “Intuition: friend or foe?”

Creative Notes

To create is to bring something into being that was not there before. As an artist, creating is fundamental. It is taking a thought, an idea and translating into a medium, which in my case is cloth. I  plan what I am going to do, how I am going to do it . I envisageContinue reading “Creative Notes”
